BROWN, Rachel E. (Edwards)
Passed away peacefully at Meadows of Dorchester and has gone to her heavenly home on Friday, December 15, 2017, at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Harry Brown (2010). Loving mother of Mary Jean Johnson (Rick), Susan Atkinson (Harold), the late Michael (2009), Julie Poupore (Tom), Tim (Cara), Dave and mother-in-love of Debi Brown Rutledge (David). Proud grandmother of Scott, Aaron, Shelley, Rhonda, Melissa, Kristen, Kevin, Rachel, T.J., Adam, Mitchell and the late Kim. She will be missed by her 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Dear sister of the late Jean Edwards. Step-sister of Bernice Pucci (late Frank), Elleda Jackson (late Herb), late Bob Kilpatrick (Barbara), late Larry Kilpatrick, and the late George Galley (late Helen). Predeceased by her parents George and Mary Edwards and step mother Mabel. Dear sister-in-law of Colleen Brown, Shirley MacIsaac (late Hugh), Sheila Wickett (late Ted), also predeceased by father and mother-in-law; Arthur and Muriel Brown, brother-in-law; Tom Brown, late Desmond Brown (Mary), and sister-in-law Rose Mary Trimboli (late Pat). Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and cousins. Rachel was a Bell Telephone operator before her marriage and later worked on Switchboard and Information at the GNGH. Upon retirement Rachel enjoyed travelling with her husband Harry, she was Past President of Grenigan 65 (GNGH Retirees), also loved gardening, scrapbooking and knitting for her grandchildren. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Meadows of Dorchester.
The family will receive friends at MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main St. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Church, 6548 Dorchester Rd., on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11 a.m. Rite of committal to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Those who wish may make a memorial donation to either the Niagara Health Foundation, Meadows of Dorchester or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
