Samuel "Sammy"  Scordino

With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Sammy, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on March 9, 2018 at the age of 74. Beloved brother of Philip (Kay), Michael (Carole), Carmen (Gina), and Nancy. Cherished Uncle to Lisa, Philip Jr. (Cherie), Cheryl Moyer (Dave), Michael Pellegrino (Melissa), Michael (Stefanie), Carmen Jr., and James Pellegrino (Jessica). Great Uncle to Sophia, Matteo, Jade, Cooper, Charlotte, Augustus, and Irena. Predeceased by his parents Michael (2001) and Mary (1979). Sam had a passion for photography, machine shop, martial arts, and working with children with special needs. Sam began his trade as a machinist at The Canadian Ohio Brass and later retired from Densmore Tool and Die and Zehrs. Sam was a devout Catholic who dedicated his life to helping others. A lifelong volunteer for the Special Olympics, a Judo Sensei for the Boys & Girls Club and the Niagara Falls Judo Club, and a volunteer camera operator for Cogeco television. In his retirement years, Sam enjoyed his gatherings with friends at Tim Horton’s, riding his bike, working on his lathe and taking pictures at Dufferin Islands. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Monday (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at St. Patrick’s Church at 12 noon. Rite of Committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Special Olympics Canada or The Tender Wishes Foundation.
