Missing Irene

I recently became a neighbor and friend of Jack's.  He so missed is dear wife and as she was the keeper of their home, dear Jack struggled with cooking.

He asked me over one day to cook a steak for him on his new grill pan recently received from his children on his birthday.

I came over with seasonings and tools to cook the steak.

How do you like you steak Jack, well done.  This was good because the steak was frozen solid and yes by the time it was cooked, it was well done and tough.

I gently asked that if he ever wish to have me cook for him, I'd be happy too but please take the meat out of the freezer the night before and put in the fridge.  I will come over an hour before to take it out and let it come to room temperature before cooking.

Needless to say, he never called to have me cook for him but did come to my house for a proper BBQ steak dinner.  A lovely evening and fond memory for me.

I will miss him dearly.  He was a gentleman and as his friend Mary said, a gentle man.

I hope you are dancing in heaven with your dear Irene.

Praying for your soul's journey.

Felicia
