Life Story for Teresa Fabiani (Gigliotti)

Teresa Fabiani (Gigliotti)
FABIANI, Teresa – With heavy and broken hearts we announce the passing of our cherished Mother, Nona, and friend at the NHS St. Catharines Hospital on Sunday, August 13, 2017, at the age of 81. She was predeceased by her husband and soul mate Oreste Fabiani (2009), her parents Antonio and Angela Gigliotti, her siblings Carolina Merante, Maria Fabiani, Ninina Cantafio, Domenico and Luigi Gigliotti and her special nephew Joe Fabiani. A devoted mother of Tom (Sarah) and Mary Mancuso (John) and a loving and very proud nona to Olivia Friesen (Matt), Vanessa and Kyle Fabiani, Andrea and Alicia Mancuso (Ryan Racine), Maria and Joe Rizzo, along with many nieces and nephews.
Teresa was born in Gimigliano, Italy and came to Canada on June 11th, 1959 by ocean vessel from Naples Italy to Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia on the M.N. Vulcania. From there Mom and Dad, journeyed by CN rail to Port Colborne, Ontario which they called home for many years. We are very fortunate and grateful that Mom and Dad immigrated to Canada, and we thank both of them for that. Teresa was never afraid to be her authentic self and tell it like it was; her energy and confidence could fill a room. Not to mention her infectious smile and big heart, she made friends instantly, right up to her last days. Teresa embraced her Italian culture and it was impossible to leave her house with an empty stomach. She was truly one of a kind. Teresa was fierce, driven and had so much fight in her until the end. She embodied a strong independent woman and her memory will forever live on. A very special thanks to the NHS Niagara Falls hemo-dialysis team and family you made mom feel incredible. Dr. Khandelwal, Dr. Rammohan and Dr. Jaffer for your compassion and thoughtfulness. The devoted nurses at NHS St. Catharines Hospital 3A Nephrology Unit. The wonderful residents and caring staff at Lundy Manor (Revera), mom truly enjoyed playing cards, bingo and her daily espressos with friends.
The family will receive friends at MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil will be held at 8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 6548 Dorchester Road, Niagara Falls. Rite of Committal with entombment will follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
