Life Story for Irene Muriel Copeland (Dow)

Irene Muriel Copeland (Dow)
COPELAND Irene Muriel - It is with great sadness, that the family of Irene Muriel Copeland has to announce her passing at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Friday, May 19 at the age of 84. Predeceased by her husband Robert (1993), as well as her parents Michael and Hattie; and her six siblings, Beatrice, Russell, Grant, Lethia, Johnny, and Gordon. Beloved mother of her three children, son Rob (Helena) of Queenston, her daughter Valerie Nichols of Niagara Falls, and her son Gary of Niagara Falls. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Natasha (Tyler), Tiffany (Rob), and Caitlin; as well as six great-grandchildren, Caylee, Lucas, Dylan, Grace, Valerie, and Scott.

Irene worked hard all her life for her family, as both a mother and a family provider. She was also a very active volunteer in her community, helping out for many years with different organizations, such as Project Share, Meals on Wheels, Out of the Cold, Canadian Blood Services, and the St. Davids Lioness Club. All that, while also finding the time to visit patients in local nursing homes that did not have any family to comfort them. She was also a very devout, and active member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Stamford Centre, since the early 1950's.

Cremation has taken place, and as per her wishes, there will not be formal visitation held at the Funeral Home. A private internment service for immediate family members only, will be held on Saturday, May 27th. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life get together for all friends, family, and acquaintances who wish to express their respect for Irene, on the following day, Sunday, May 28th. This get together will be held at the St. John the Evangelist Church Hall, 3428 Portage Rd., Niagara Falls, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, those who wish, may make a memorial donation to St. John the Evangelist Church, in memory of Irene.
