Life Story for John William "Jack" Evans

John William "Jack" Evans
The family of Jack Evans would like to announce his passing on December 18, 2016. Jack will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by children; Carrie and John, his six grandchildren; Nicole (Steve), Lori (Mike), Scott (Philippa), Joe, Jim and Steve and his six great grandchildren; Ryan, Erin, Peyton, Joshua, Barnaby and Eliza. Jack was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Edith in 2012.
Jack was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario and served his community as a member of the Toronto Police Service from 1945 to 1974, retiring as a Detective Sergeant with the Homicide squad. Not ready to stop working, he joined the Forensic Pathology Branch of Ontario as their Executive Officer from 1974 to 1988.
Jack will be remembered as a proud veteran of World War II, serving his country as a wireless air gunner with the Royal Canadian Air Force. It was in the Air Force he met his wife, Edith and they married in 1945.
Upon moving to Niagara Falls in 1993, he was involved in the legion and enjoyed his weekly card games. He dedicated much of his time to his family and they will miss going for a coffee and muffin at Commisso’s with him, spending time together on the Niagara Parkway, and all of his wonderful stories.
The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at Eventide Home for their care and compassion. Family will receive friends at the MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, on Tuesday December 27, 2016 from 1 P.M- 2 P.M. with a celebration of life ceremony at 2 P.M. In memory of Jack, donations to Eventide Home or the Children’s Wish Foundation would be appreciated and may be made through MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME.
