ISTCHENKO, Alexander – 1916- 2013 - Passed away peacefully on Saturday February 16, 2013 at the St. Catharines General Hospital, in his 97th year. Beloved husband of the late Else (nee Reimer) (2012). Survived by his six children, Luise Penner (Wes), Irma Purchase (Wayne), Eddy (Rhoda), Alex (Marg), Victor (Muffy) and Wally (Catherine). He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and sister-in-law Liesel Schulz (John), and nephews Henry Froese (Jane) and Waldemar Reimer (Margaret). The family is especially grateful for the compassionate care provided by Dr. Gruber. We would also like to thank the staff at Chateau Gardens for their care.
The family will receive friends at Morgan Funeral Home, 415 Regent St., on Friday, February 22, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. A service to celebrate Alexander’s life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 3 p.m. Interment to follow at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery. For those who wish, a memorial donation may be made to either Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of their choice.
